CRYBABY is a healing art-toy IP under POP MART, created in 2017 by Thai artist Nisa Srikumdee, known as Molly Yllom (Mod). It was born from her personal grief after the death of her golden retriever Somchun, and from her childhood memory of being told not to cry—turning tears into a symbol of emotional honesty rather than weakness.
The character is not a fixed boy, girl, or even strictly human—it is set as the embodiment of inner emotion itself: genderless, fluid, with puffy cheeks, big eyes, freckles, and signature 3D teardrops on the cheeks. Core message: "Everybody cries sometimes"; crying is not shameful, but a normal release and a form of healing, just like smiling.
Under POP MART, CRYBABY expanded into blind boxes, vinyl-plush pendants, plush badges, earphone cases, and collaborations such as The Powerpuff Girls, Care Bears, and Cry Me an Ocean / Tear Factory / Crying Again / Crying for Love series. Boosted by celebrity fans like BLACKPINK's Lisa, it became one of POP MART's fastest-growing emotional IPs, with 2024 revenue around RMB 1.165 billion, up roughly 1537% YoY.
